Blog Post 1

1. I had a class with a girl that had taken EDM and she told me it seems very difficult to begin with, but you learn that it really is just more time consuming.
2.I really would like to graduate within the next two years and I tend to have a somewhat bad memory, so my biggest fear is missing assignments and not making a good grade in this class!
3. EDM 310, I can already tell, is definitely going to be using the computer more than I have in any other class. It's going to teach me new things for my technology side, which is very different because most classes using the computer are generally very basic.
4. The hardest thing for me in EDM310 will certainly be remembering my assignments. But besides that learning the new things for the class on the computer will most likely be quiet challenging for me too.
5. Definitely keep my assignments written down, have alarms on my phone and check the syllabus and assignments often to check for changes.
6.I don't really have questions. I just have things I need to and am ready to learn about, such as new things to use on the computer, writing better blogs and so on!

My name is Ashton Dykes. I was born and raised in Mobile. I have an awesome mom and dad and one amazing sister. I also have a niece and nephew and they are terrifying. I attended Mobile Christian School from K-4 all the way through my Senior year. I graduated with a whopping twenty-eight peers. At first I was terrified of South Alabama, because my high school was so small and I knew everyone (I was also voted Class Clown, just so you know). But now, as a Junior, I've come to love South. It's relatively small so it wasn't very overwhelming. I got into teaching because I want to know I made a difference in a child's life. I believe it's a teachers duty to not just educate children on school subjects, but also teach them manners and respect. Aside from classes, I also work four different jobs. I work at a barn, at a store, for a cleaning company and in the nursery at my church. I juggle them, school, riding horses and spending lots of time with boyfriend! It's not as hard as it sounds.

I have a horse named Scooby and I compete in jumping competitively with him, so a lot of my time is spent at the barn. When I have down time, I like to sit around and watch Netflix or go out and do something fun, like fishing or having a bonfire. It really depends on the day! Basically my hobbies are riding. I read some, when I get really into a book and I also play violin but I haven't picked it up in a while. My plans after I graduate is to find a good public school to work at. I think I'd like to work with 1st or 2nd grade, because they are just starting to learn all these new things and it seems like it would be a lot of fun to teach that age. If I find out later on that I want to teach older kids, I may go back and get my degree in either Mathematics or English. I really like both but I think I'd enjoy teaching algebra. So that's about it. I'm pretty fun once you get to know me but I'm generally quite reserved at first. So get to know me! Or don't. It's your choice.
